به گزارش خبرنگار ایرنا ،' مهدی غضنفری ' شامگاه چهارشنبه در آیین اختتامیه جشنواره فصلی مطبوعات و مراسم تقدیر از پیشكسوتان حوزه رسانه گفت : با تلاشهای این وزارتخانه واردات كاغذ كه پیش از این با ارز صادراتی انجام می شد در فهرست كالاهایی قرار گرفت كه برای واردات آن از ارز مرجع استفاده خواهد شد .

وزیر صنعت و تجارت با بیان اینكه مصرف كاغذ در دنیا در سال 2004 میلادی از چهل میلیون تن در سال به 33 میلیون تن كاهش یافته است افزود : علت این كاهش مصرف توسعه رسانه های دیجیتال در كشورها می باشد .

وی همچنین در ادامه گفت : در سال 1389 در كشور مصرف كاغذ یكصد هزارتن بوده اما در سال 1390 مصرف كاغذ در ایران به یكصد و 14 هزار تن افزایش یافته است و پیش بینی می شود كه درسال پیش رو این مصرف بیشتر هم خواهد شد كه نشان از علاقه مردم به كتاب و مطبوعات است .

وی با بیان اینكه تولید كاغذ در حوزه داخلی تنها بیست در صد از احتیاجات كشور را برطرف می كند افزود : هم اكنون در كشور دو كارخانه تولید كاغذ در حال احداث است كه با بهره برداری از این كارخانه ها تولید كاغذ در كشور به 47 هزار تن خواهد رسید .
